Army Chief Vows Justice for Benue, Plateau Killings

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has assured that the Nigerian Army will go after those responsible for the recent killings in Benue, Plateau, and other parts of the country.

Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army in Ibadan, Major General Obinna Onubogu, Oluyede made the statement during a second-quarter media chat held in Akure, organised by the Nigerian Army’s Department of Civil-Military Affairs.

The Army Chief said the military is fully committed to tackling insecurity, particularly in the North-Central region, assuring that in the coming week, Benue particularly will see very elaborate security arrangements.

He urged local communities to support military efforts by providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that Nigeria’s vast size means the Army cannot be everywhere at once.
