Court Grants Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan fifty Million naira Bail

The Federal Capital Territory High Court, Maitama, Abuja, has granted bail to the suspended Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, in the sum of ₦50 million.

As part of the bail conditions, she is to provide one surety who must be a person of reasonable integrity, resident in the FCT, and own landed property within the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

The trial judge, Justice Chizoba Orji, gave the ruling today after hearing arguments for and against the bail application from both parties.

The Attorney General of the Federation, in a three-count criminal charge, accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of making defamatory statements against the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, during a live television broadcast.

Meanwhile, the trial is scheduled to commence on September 23.
