The Federal Government yesterday restated its commitment to maintaining a free, responsible, and vibrant press, while highlighting the media’s essential role in deepening democracy and promoting national development.
Speaking at the public presentation of Nigeria Media Renaissance Perspectives on Online Publishing in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers for its efforts in promoting ethical standards and innovation within the digital media landscape.
According to him, the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains determined to uphold press freedom, in line with the core values of journalism truth, fairness, and accountability.
Idris further stressed the government’s intention to work with the media to raise standards, enhance public communication, promote media literacy, and present narratives that foster national unity and inspire collective progress.
