The Federal Government has issued a strong warning to politicians ahead of upcoming elections, cautioning against violence and electoral malpractices.
This follows preparations for by-elections across 12 states, the Anambra governorship poll, and the 2026 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
Speaking at a security consultative meeting in Abuja today, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, represented by the Director of Internal Security at his office, Hassan Y. Abdullahi, said security agencies would come down hard on anyone attempting to undermine the process.
Ribadu noted that intelligence operations will be intensified to detect and prevent any threats, especially in states facing security challenges, and he also stressed that voters must be allowed to exercise their rights without fear or intimidation.
